Vanessa Lynne-Marie Lengies was born in Montréal, Québec, Canada on July 21, 1985. She started professionally acting at the age of 9. Some of her credits include: Arthur, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and Radio Active. Vanessa was a co-host on the show , Popular Mechanics for Kids, which she was also a fan of the show before becoming a member of the cast.

UBACH has made her mark in the cartoon world, and her voice can be heard regularly on the Disney, WB and Nickelodeon animated series, TEAMO SUPREMO, OZZIE AND DRIX, BRANDY AND MR. WHISKERS, HIGGLEYTOWN HEROES, and the lead voice of Manny Rivera in Disney’s new and acclaimed Mexican superhero series EL TIGRE . UBACH has also been seen on the big screen in BLUE MOON in which she starred with film veterans Rita Morena and Ben Garraza. in which she starred with film veterans Rita Moreno and Ben Gazarra and the title role in DENISE CALLS UP, (a sequel is in development) which won a special mention at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival. Ubach has also done extensive television and theater work. On television she created the role of "Josie" on the Cable Ace Award winning educational children's science series BEAKMAN’S WORLD. Some of her many guest-starring roles include a Hollywood producer under investigation in THE CLOSER, a murderous Wal-Mart employee in MONK a ballistics expert on CSI NY, a petulant intern on WEST WING, a homeless teen on ER, a reformed crack addict on TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL , and an ambitious publicist on Aaron Sorkin’s SPORTS NIGHT. She has also starred in several television movies including A & E’s KARROLL’S CHRISTMAS starring opposite Tom Everett Scott and VH-1’s 30 DAYS UNTIL I’M FAMOUS as a Britney Spears wannabe. Ms. Ubach has also been cast as a series regular in 10 TV Pilots. Her improv work as been seen on shows such as THE DAVID SPADE SHOW and THE ADAM CAROLLA SHOW.. On the New York stage Alanna, who was described by Village Voice as "a marvelously affecting and unaffected young actress," received critical acclaim for her performance in KINDERTRANSPORT at the Manhattan Theatre Club and CLUB SODA at the WPA Theater. Starfish Prime was a high-altitude nuclear test conducted by the United States of America on July 9, 1962, a joint effort of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) and the Defense Atomic Support Agency (which became the Defense Nuclear Agency in 1971). Launched via a Thor rocket and carrying a W49 thermonuclear warhead (manufactured by Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory) and a Mk. 4 reentry vehicle, the explosion took place 250 miles (400 kilometers) above a point 19 miles (31 kilometers) southwest of Johnston Island in the Pacific Ocean. It was one of five tests conducted by the USA in outer space as defined by the FAI. It produced a yield of 1.4 megatons of TNT.

While some of the energetic beta particles followed the Earth’s magnetic field and illuminated the sky, other high-energy electrons became trapped and formed radiation belts around the earth. There was much uncertainty and debate about the composition, magnitude and potential adverse effects from this trapped radiation after the detonation. The weaponeers became quite worried when three satellites in low earth orbit were disabled. These man-made radiation belts eventually crippled one-third of all satellites in low orbit. Seven satellites were destroyed as radiation knocked out their solar arrays or electronics, including the first commercial relay communication satellite ever, Telstar.Detectors on Telstar, TRAAC, Injun, and Ariel 1 were used to measure distribution of the radiation produced by the tests.

In 1963, Brown et al. reported in the Journal of Geophysical Research that Starfish Prime had created a belt of MeV electrons, and Bill Hess reported in 1968 that some Starfish electrons remained for five years. Others reported that radioactive particles from Starfish Prime descended to earth seasonally and accumulated in terrestrial organisms such as fungi and lichens.(Wiki)

Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that Woods, 33, crashed his 2009 Cadillac SUV into a fire hydrant and a tree while pulling out of the driveway of his mansion in a gated waterfront community outside Orlando.

Authorities have confirmed that the wreck was not alcohol-related.

Tiger was taken to Health Central Hospital, where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash and released. According to ESPN, Woods suffered facial lacerations. However, Tiger’s spokesman Glenn Greenspan says the golfer is in “good condition.” The crash remains under investigation by Florida authorities.

A pair of aspiring reality TV stars crashed the White House state dinner - and cozied up to politicians and celebrities for photos the couple posted on Facebook.

Tareq and Michaele Salahi, possible stars of the new show "The Real Housewives of Washington," were not on the guestlist for Tuesday night's star-studded dinner, but managed to get past the tight security charged with keeping the unwanted out, the Washington Post reported.

The Salahis, the first people ever to successfully crash a state dinner, arrived about halfway into the party. He was dressed in a tux, she wore a red and gold gown.

The wife, a former Redskins cheerleader, is one of the finalists for the upcoming Bravo cable show.

The northern Virginia couple chronicled their night at the White House with a photo spread on Facebook, where they're seen posing with Vice President Biden and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel - whom the Salahis improperly identified as "Ron."

"Honored to be at the White House for the state dinner in honor of India with President Obama and our First Lady!" they wrote on a joint Facebook listing.

The polo-playing socialites posted pictures of themselves with Katie Couric, Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty, Bollywood composer AR Rahman and PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.

The White House confirmed to the Washington Post that they were not on the guestlist. Asked via Facebook why they were not on the list, Michaele Salahi said "it was a last-minute attending."

The Secret Service said the President was never in danger at the party despite the guestlist slip. The couple - like everyone else - were fully screened for weapons before they got in, the Secret Service said.

The uninvited guests could face a trespassing charge unless someone from inside the White House staff slipped them in.

A spokesman told the Washington Post that a Secret Service checkpoint failed to "follow proper procedure to ensure these two individuals were on the invited guestlist."

An official review is under way.

Bravo announced in May that the "Real Housewives" program's next stop would be Washington and they would be "scouting the D.C. area to identify...women who have their pulse on the most important cultural events, political galas, gallery openings and fund-raisers in Washington society."

A publicist for the Salahis denied the couple crashed the party, saying they "were honored to be a part of such a prestigious event. They both had a wonderful time."

The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) have agreed to meet on November 27 to take the wage bipartite talks forward. Over 7 lakh public sector bank employees will keenly wait for the outcome of the meeting. Wage revision for them is due from November 2007.
Incidentally, both negotiating parties have agreed on a 17.5% wage hike. They have also in principle agreed to offer monthly pension to 2.66 bank employees, who did not opt for it in 1993. But their last meeting in the final week of September remained inconclusive as they could not arrive at the accounting methodology of pension.
“Issues like accounting for the cost of pension and the cost sharing arrangement between bank management and employees, the proposed introduction of New Pension Scheme (NPS) and variable pay are some issues that need to be resolved,” said All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) president Rajen Nagar.
UFBU — the umbrella organisation for nine leading bank unions — is not also comfortable with IBA’s proposal to introduce NPS for bankers joining after April 2010.
IBA and UFBU jointly finalise the pay hike plans for public sector bank employees. Talks on the eighth bipartite meeting has been on for quite sometime now. Public sector banks including State Bank of India have 2.44 lakh officers and 4.68 lakh workmen employees who are awaiting a wage revision now- FROM ECONOMIC TIMES |

SkiFree is a computer game created by Chris Pirih, who was working as a programmer at Microsoft at the time. The object of the game is simple: to ski down an endless slope and avoid the obstacles.

Pirih had created SkiFree in C on his home computer for his own education and entertainment. The game eventually attracted the attention of a program manager for Microsoft Entertainment Pack when he noticed Pirih playing it at work, leading to the inclusion of the game in the next Entertainment Pack release with Pirih’s consent.

The game was featured in the Best of Windows Entertainment Pack and was available as a ported version for Macintosh. SkiFree was also one of seven games included in The Best of Entertainment Pack released for Game Boy Color in 2001.

In 1993, Pirih started work on a second version of the game, but it was abandoned for other projects as the original source code was lost.

On April 4, 2005, Pirih announced the rediscovery of the game’s source code and the creation of a 32-bit version of SkiFree. The updated version is available on his official SkiFree website.

Because the initial SkiFree release was a 16-bit Windows program, compatibility issues arose when running the game in newer versions of Windows. Pirih noted that users of Windows XP can configure the operating system to run 16-bit Windows programs, resolving the problem for some.

The problem has since been addressed as Pirih rediscovered the game’s source code in April 2005, and created a more compatible 32-bit version of the game.

The CAG is also the external auditor of government-owned companies. The reports of the CAG are taken into consideration by the Public Accounts Committees, which are special committees in the Parliament of India and the state legislatures . The CAG of India is also the head of the Indian Audits and Accounts Service, which has over 58,000 employees across the country.

The current CAG of India is Vinod Rai, who was appointed on 7th January 2008. He is the 11th CAG of India.

Parichaya Review kannada

"Parichaya" has been a much-awaited film, thanks to its songs that have already become chartbusters on music channels and its interesting promos.
As director Sanjay had promised, the film is youth-centric and the musical score by Jessie Gift is the movie's main attraction. The fantastic choreography and the cinematography by P.K.H. Doss complement the film's mood.
But music and photography apart, "Parichaya" suffers on account of a half-baked script that is inspired by Hollywood hit "Serendipity". The film has already inspired many Indian filmmakers and "Parichaya" has borrowed heavily from its successful Tamil version "JJ", which had Madhavan in the lead.
Sanjay, who had earlier directed the Ganesh-Rekha starrer "Hudugaata", hasn't written an interesting script for "Parichaya".
The result is that the film comes as a mixed bag of a few good songs and some boring sequences.

The story revolves around Jayanth and Nimmy, who are introduced to each other on Valentine's Day. After that, they miss meeting each other many times, though they are just a little distance away.
The result is that many sequences of the film look repetitive and almost irritating.
Actor Tarun is good in the song and dance sequences but does seem expressionless in some key emotional scenes. And the dubbing work done by actor Dileep Raj doesn't really suit him.

Rekha looks attractive, but she is still to attain maturity in her performance. Avinash and Shobharaj provide some relief with their dialogues.
The three top songs of the film - "Nadedaaduva Kaamanabille", "Jigi Jigi Jigidhu" and "Kudinotave" - are well-picturised.
"Parichaya" impresses with its musical content and strong visuals. But it disappoints because of it lacks an interesting storyline and good narrative.

CET 2010 to be held in April

The Common Entrance Test for the coming academic year will be held on April 28 and April 29 next year. The examination will take place in 228 centres all over the State with counselling scheduled to take place in six centres – Bangalore, Hubli, Gulbarga, Mangalore, Shimoga and Davangere.

Biology and mathematics examinations will be held on 28th and physics and chemistry exams will be held on 29th. All papers will be for 60 marks with biology and physics scheduled for the morning sessions from 10:30 am to 11:50 am. Mathematics and chemistry have been scheduled for the afternoon sessions from 2:30 pm to 3:50 pm.
Announcing the time-table, Minister for Higher Education Aravind Limbavali told the media that the department’s efforts to provide coaching to rural students was well received, and that there was a demand for more coaching centres.
“We have set up 102 coaching centres for rural students and about 14,000 students are benefiting from it. There is a demand for more centres, and a decision will be taken after due consideration,” he said. In connection with the proposal to set up 175 new government colleges in the State, the minister said the government had already acquired land for all but 12 of the colleges. Limbavali said funds would be allocated for the construction of 35 colleges in next year’s budget.

Tata Teleservices Limited, India’s fastest-growing pan-India
dual-technology telecom service provider, emerged as the Number One telecom operator in
the country for the third consecutive month in October, in terms of new subscriber additions,
adding more than 3.8 million subscribers in the month. The achievement is all the more
noteworthy as the nearest competitor managed to add just over 2.9 million subscribers in the
same period, a gap of nearly 1 million subscribers. Tata Teleservices Limited also crossed the
50-million subscribers milestone in October.
Tata Teleservices Limited added 3,867,725 new subscribers in October 2009 from its CDMA
(Tata Indicom) and GSM operations (TATA DOCOMO) put together. In September 2009 too, TTSL
had showed a healthy growth in new additions, with 40,06,823 new subscribers being added. In
August as well, TTSL led the market by adding over 3.4 million new subscribers.
“It is extremely gratifying to emerge for the third consecutive month as the top grosser in the
industry in terms of net subscriber additions. Our net subscriber additions in October validate
the efforts that have been put into making our network and services the best in the industry,”
Mr Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Tata Teleservices Limited, said. “As mentioned, October
is the third consecutive month that we have achieved the highest number of net subscriber
additions, and we thank each one of our new and existing subscribers for showering so much
love, affection and trust in us. This has far exceeded our expectations and motivates us to
provide the best telecom experience to our customers—in keeping with our larger objective of
achieving customer affection and delight,” he added.

Fisherwomen to hold protest rally on Nov 25

Mahila Meenu Marata Horata Samithi, a forum of fisherwomen will organize a protest rally demanding closing down of the fish sale counter set up by Karnataka Fisheries Development
Corporation (KFDC) in Urva Chilimbi here on Wednesday.
Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Samithi convener Sathish Bykampady said around 1,000 fishermen and women from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts would take part in the protest rally.
Hadinalku Patna Mogaveera Samyuktha Sabha, the traditional body of the fishermen community and the district unit of Ahinda have extended support to the rally. The rally would begin at Bavuta Gudde and pass through Dr Ambedkar (Jyothi) Circle, Hampanakatta to culminate at the deputy commissioner's office where a public meeting would be held, he said.
Expressing reservations over the KFDC venturing to set up the fish sales counters, Sathish said this would directly affect the livelihood of the fisherwomen who were relying on the fish sale for their livelihood. KFDC was originally formed to design and implement the schemes to protect the interests of the fishermen and achieve their welfare. But unfortunately, KFDC was coming out with schemes, which would snatch away the livelihood of the poor fishermen and women and ruin their lives. KFDC managing committee had also resorted to file false complaints against the fishermen and women who were opposing setting up sales counters, he accused.

Leslie Edwin "Les" Miles (born November 10, 1953 in Elyria, Ohio) is an American college football coach and the current head coach of the Louisiana State University football team. Prior to holding that position, he was head coach at Oklahoma State. He was formerly an assistant atOklahoma State University as well as with the University of Michigan, the University of Coloradoand the Dallas Cowboys. Miles has held the head coaching position at LSU since January 2005 and has an agreement to coach LSU through 2012. Miles coached the Tigers to a win in the 2008 BCS National Championship Game against Ohio State, 38–24.
